Project completed

Perhaps more than any other discipline, art reflects our media habits. It focuses not simply on how we view the technology that is changing our lives so radically, but also on how we understand and use it.

Discovering and understanding media technology

With the support of the Migros Pioneer Fund, House of Electronic Arts (HeK) in Basel is creating innovative, overarching communications offerings in art, media and technology. The impact-oriented formats not only explain the works shown, they also open new channels to media technologies and inspire visitors to form an opinion, join in and explore. As part of the cooperation an actual workshop space was opened next to the museum, for example: the additional door to the museum building symbolised quite literally the opportunity to explore new inroads into art and culture.

Touch points with the maker scene

The HeK is dedicated to digital culture and the new art forms of the information age. Children, young people and adults receive an opportunity to explore media technology, make connections and acquire knowledge and skills in this field. The HeK focuses on artistic and pop-cultural practices such as DIY, hacking, appropriation and customising (adapting to personal needs and expectations).
