Kofi Annan Foundation
Voices of reconciliation and equality in Colombia.
The Kofi Annan Foundation, in partnership with Alianza para la Paz (APAZ) and la Fundación Nacional Batuta (Batuta) aim to strengthen the resilience to violence of Colombian children and young people through musical education incorporating the dimensions of peace and gender equality. It will focus its efforts on the departments of Arauca and Putumayo, where violence rates are highest. Thanks to courses on peace and gender equality, dialogue sessions, the practice of music and psychosocial support, the young people most affected by violence, their families and the authorities in the municipalities of Puerto Asís and Saravena will develop a sense of community and a strategy promoting resilience to violence.
Who will benefit directly from the project?
Those benefiting directly from the project include the 280 children and young people, 140 parents, 25 Batuta centre teachers and 20 local authority representatives who will be involved in the training, dialogue and musical activities.
Benefiting indirectly from the project are the inhabitants of the two municipalities of Puerto Asís and Saravena who will take part in the dialogue meetings (900 people) and who will be targeted by the radio and social media campaign to raise awareness (2,200 people).
