Raissa Avilés is a Swiss singer, performer and author with Mexican roots, trained in physical theatre, performance and singing. The voice is at the centre of her artistic practice. Among her latest works are two “expanded concerts” (“Maybe a concert” and “La Maria, o la espeluznante seducción de una canción de amor”), in which she explores, deconstructs and reconstructs the concept of the concert and the pieces in her repertoire. After training in Physical Theatre and Interpretation between Spain and Switzerland and graduating in Dramatic Body Mime (Moveo Teatro, Barcelona) and the Meisner Technique (with Javier Galitó-Cava, Barcelona), she obtained her Master’s degree at the Dimitri Academy in Verscio in 2014. She trained as a teacher in Functional Voice Training® with Javi Prieto in Barcelona. She is currently a singer and performer on the show “U. (Un canto)” by Alessandro Sciarroni.

She works as gently and carefully as possible, placing special emphasis on sustainable art. She is drawn to light and shadow, the strange and unusual; small, often overlooked details as well as the political dimensions behind seemingly simple things fascinate her most.
