In Switzerland, around 60 per cent of refugees are out of work. Reasons for this range from language barriers and unrecognised qualifications to refugees’ difficulties in assessing their career opportunities. Meanwhile, many industries are suffering from a labour shortages despite the potential for integration.
A professional matching platform
The digital platform Path2Work helps refugees showcase their professional skills and find suitable occupational fields in the local labour market. Applicant profiles focus on skills rather than just formal qualifications, which facilitates customised job suggestions even for vacancies the participants had not previously considered. Companies gain access to a broad pool of motivated applicants. An algorithm matches participants with vacancies and provides companies with candidate profiles based on actual skills, making the selection larger and more accurate than the classic search can. Path2Work is being implemented in partnership with the Federal Government. The Migros Pioneer Fund supports the project, aiming to demonstrate its effectiveness and feasibility and facilitate its market entry.
New paths for the Swiss labour market
Path2Work aims to reach around 70,000 refugees by late 2026, enabling them to become more independent and participate better in society. The project promotes a more inclusive labour market that recognises hidden potential and strengthens the economy.
