A commitment to local culture!

With the Culture Percentage, Migros Cooperative Neuchâtel-Fribourg promotes cultural diversity and social commitment in its economic area.

Requirements

The Migros Neuchâtel-Fribourg Culture Percentage operates through three channels.

  • Balanced selection between the different areas   
  • Balanced geographical distribution across the cooperative's territory  
  • Please allow a maximum of eight weeks for processing applications 
  • Professionalism  
  • Project, association, organisation or production based in the canton of Neuchâtel or  Fribourg  
  • Balanced geographical distribution across the cooperative's territory  
  • Please allow up to 12 weeks for processing applications  
  • Balanced selection between the above sectors  
  • Balanced geographical distribution across the cooperative's territory  
  • Applications must be submitted at least 16 weeks before the date of the event.  
  • Only one donation is granted per request per year. In view of the large number of applications, Culture Percentage endeavours to favour a large number of associations, which is why support may vary from one year to the next (fair rotation). 
  • The associations or organisations must be domiciled within the territory of our cooperative and the projects supported must also be developed in the same place. 
  • Applications must be submitted in French or German.  
  • Applications must be submitted electronically using the form below.  

What we support

We support not-for-profit projects, associations or events that promote environmental, social, educational or cultural values.  

Fields of expertise :  

  • Music: amateur music societies  
  • Youth projects: youth projects or associations in various activity types  
  • Sports: sports associations linked to a specific event  
  • Social: social projects or associations supporting different activity types  
  • Cultural: cultural projects : shows or events of a social or popular nature. Projects carried out by amateurs or volunteers  
  • Miscellaneous: projects or associative structures that do not fall into any of the above categories  

We support professional cultural projects and contribute to building creativity and cultural life in the Migros Neuchâtel-Fribourg cooperative area.  

Areas:   

  • Music: classical, opera, jazz, variety, world music, hip hop, rap, electronic music  
  • Theatre: all forms of professional theatre, comedy, one-man shows, young audiences  
  • Dance: classical, contemporary, performance, hip hop, breakdance 
  • Visual arts: federative projects outside institutional venues and private galleries 
  • Others: cultural institutions and projects (festivals, federative venues)  

We support contemporary projects that are professionally implemented. Each request must fall within at least one of these values: promising approach, originality, quality, diversity, integration, participation and accessibility.   
Four sessions are held each year, generally in March, May, September and November.

  • artistic seasons: only creations/productions scheduled in a season are supported  
  • top-level sport, elite sport   
  • publications, printed or online   
  • production costs  
  • deficit guarantees  
  • construction and infrastructure costs  
  • operating expenses, institutional overheads   
  • operating costs for private and public schools   
  • individuals or initiatives by individuals   
  • projects from schools, universities of applied sciences and arts or universities   
  • projects abroad   
  • charity events   
  • mediation projects   
  • annual subscriptions and memberships   
  • purely commercial events and projects   
  • religious events and projects  
  • specific funding in the "Training" area, as Migros Culture Percentage is committed to "training for all" through Miduca  
  • translations  
  • private and charity events  
  • fundraising campaigns  
  • purchase of musical instruments or museum exhibits   
  • projects related to scientific research  
  • didactic projects  
  • requests for scholarships  
  • monograph projects   
  • private requests   
  • incomplete applications  
  • requests from outside the cooperative's territory

Deadlines and decisions

Applications may be submitted at any time. Applications are generally processed within 4 to 12 weeks.  

Decisions are not commented on and cannot be appealed. 

Funding type

  • Support can be in the form of gift cards or cash (in return for advertising, such as a logo, banner, etc.).  
  • Support takes the form of a cash payment and/or publication in the regional pages of Migros Magazin.   
  • This support can supplement a contribution from the Federation of Migros Cooperatives to a project of supra-regional or national significance. 
  • Support can be in cash (in return for publicity, such as publication of the logo, placing of a banner, etc.). or by publishing an article in the regional pages of Migros Magazine.
