EcoSolidar: food security in Malawi
Training centres for sustainable farming are creating the basis for improving the lives of the local population.
The aim of the project is to use sustainable agriculture to improve the food security and revenues of 3,500 schoolchildren and 1,000 households in the Mzimba district. The schools provide the children and their families with training centres in agroecology and nutrition. The organic farming project at five schools is multiplied by the parents in the villages: the local community organises clubs and puts what has been learnt in the classroom into practice. The children receive balanced meals, attend school regularly and improve their performance. Selling surpluses improves the families’ economic situation.

Avoiding renewed dependence is the highest priority.
