Born in Leverkusen in 1956, studied sociology, dramaturge at the Residenz Theatre in Munich. Freelance writer in Basel since 1983. Author of numerous novels. Latest publications: ‘Schule Der Indienfahrer’ and ‘Bild Vom Bild Vom Grossen Mond’. Literary critic, essayist, lecturer at ETH, ZHDK, BFH, Biel Literature Institute, co-editor of the collected stories by Adelheid Duvanel: ‘Fern Von Hier’ and the Duvanel special edition of the literary magazine ‘Das Narr’.

Susanne-Marie Wrage, born in 1965 in Freiburg im Breisgau, studied acting at the Fritz-Kirchhoff-Schule Berlin and scenic writing at the UdK Berlin with Heiner Müller. She has lived and worked in Switzerland since 1993, first at the Theater am Neumarkt, then at the Theater Basel and, until 2019, the Schauspielhaus Zürich. She has been a member of the Bühnen Bern ensemble since 2023. Susanne-Marie Wrage has worked as a director in Basel and Berlin and as a lecturer at the ZHdK, the HKB and the Academy of Performing Arts Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg. She has been honoured with numerous grants and awards, including the Zurich Art Prize, the Golden Leopard (best film ‘Das Verlangen’) and the Prix Mlle. Ladubay, for the role of Lena in ‘Das Verlangen’. Increasingly active as an author since 2021, her most recent publication was the literary column ‘Briefe aus dem Schrebergarten’, which she wrote for the magazine ‘Landliebe’ for a year.
Project
We regret to inform you that the mentoring project between Friederike Kretzen and Susanne-Marie Wrage has been discontinued after several discussions.
Despite efforts on both sides, we did not succeed in developing a common working level and a shared understanding of the book project. The different approaches and perspectives in relation to literary work have proven to be too fundamental to enable constructive collaboration. While S.W. was interested in further developing the existing manuscript, F. K. saw the need for a complete reorganisation. These divergent ideas could not be bridged even after several clarifying discussions.
The lack of common ground increasingly led to misunderstandings and prevented the establishment of the necessary trust for a successful mentor-mentee relationship. After careful consideration, we have therefore agreed to end the mentoring programme.
We would like to thank Double for the opportunity to take part in the mentoring programme. The fact that we were unable to find a common working basis does not diminish our mutual appreciation for the programme and our literary expertise.
