Edwin Ramirez «Run Daddy Run – Queer Crip Becoming»

A person of color perceived as male with curly hair featuring bright red tips is wearing a black-and-white patterned top with abstract splashes of color. The person has a black beaded necklace and a red lightning bolt-shaped earring. The background is in a neutral beige tone.

The piece is called: «Run Daddy Run – Queer Crip Becoming»

What is it about?
It is about daddies.
Which father figures have accompanied us?
In our childhood and to this day.
What do we expect from a daddy?
What do we wish to get from him?
The play looks for answers to these questions.

Edwin Ramirez made the piece.
He tells it as stand-up comedy
The play asks questions like these:

  • Who am I?
  • Who do I belong to?
  • Who do I love?
  • Who do I find sexy?

It is about family.
And about power.
Who tells us who we should be?
Doctors?
The migration office?
IV?

The play has humour.
But the humour is bitter and sometimes hurts.
