ChatGPD finds: ‘Luc Oggier, better known as Leduc, is a Swiss musician and one half of the celebrated duo Lo & Leduc. As the creative mind behind the catchy melodies and profound lyrics, Leduc has had a decisive influence on the Swiss music scene.’ This is definitely flattering, even if the truthfulness of the artificially created judgement should be critically examined. What is certain is that the description ignores other activities, especially as Luc Oggier works creatively in various capacities, for example as part of the Atelieer writers' workshop. Regardless of the format or project, his passion for language and rhythm is always at the centre, as is his desire to make a difference - whether in the form of loud singing or quiet reflection.

Soukey, real name Soukeyna MBoup, is a musician from Switzerland. She is originally from Murten, but lives in Bern and completed her commercial apprenticeship at the Schlachthaus Theatre Bern in summer 2023. In 2022, the musician won the important ‘Demo of the Year’ award at the M4 Music Festival in Zurich with her song ‘Fuck’. Soukey has found her very own style somewhere between trap, dancehall and metal and sings in Bernese German. She has toured with Stereo Luchs and Lo & Leduc and played at numerous festivals.

Project

Coaching with Luc Oggier focusses on the area of songwriting. This term is therefore a broad one, especially as reflecting on, analysing and developing your own texts is a highly individual learning process that never ends. There are no generally applicable imperatives, but rather fundamental questions: What do I want to say? How can this intention be reduced and literally condensed? How does it work? Do people understand what I mean, and should they understand it at all? In addition to analysing previous text work in terms of finding themes, text structure and lyricism, current song ideas, half-finished sketches and loose thoughts are reflected upon, form and content are reflected upon and further developed. A text must always be considered in the context of its time and, accordingly, the discussion goes far beyond the questions mentioned above. The toolbox, which enables a conscious and independent writing style, is to be expanded, and this in a mutually inspiring relationship between the two artists. May the work with all these question marks trigger an exclamation mark both musically and in terms of content!

The coaching will take place in two modes:
On the one hand, the current writing process will be accompanied bilaterally over a period of one year through selective feedback. The examination of the writing process will be accompanied by the sharing of personal experiences in writing processes, the sharing of personal failures and constructive approaches that have helped and continue to help with writer's block.  On the other hand, the aim is to work intensively on current projects in several ‘camps’ lasting several days and to invite additional co-creators for this collective work as required. This is based on the experience that most projects require an intensive, decisive ‘pressure cooker phase’ after a longer ‘fermentation phase’.Ideally, the camps should take place outside of Berne, so that work can be carried out in as isolated and uncompromisingly creative a manner as possible. The opportunity to do this in the residences provided is a valuable and welcome opportunity.
