Nils Wogram (born 1972 in Braunschweig) is considered one of the most important European jazz musicians. He performs at numerous festivals and tours worldwide with his bands as well as as a soloist. Nils Wogram is best known for his virtuoso trombone style, his original compositions and the unmistakable sound of his long-standing bands. In 2010, Nils Wogram founded his own label, nwog-records, on which he releases his albums. Nils Wogram began playing the trombone at the age of 15, receiving both classical and jazz training at the same time. By the age of 16, he was already a member of the German National Youth Jazz Orchestra, founding his own bands and winning prizes at the German Jugend musiziert competition. He studied in New York from 1992 to 1994 and completed his training at the Cologne University of Music in 1999.

Victor Decamp (born 1997) is a young jazz and classical trombonist active on the European scene. He completed his master's degree in classical trombone pedagogy in 2023, has received several awards at international competitions and is also the winner of a cultural scholarship from the Leenaards Foundation. He performs in a variety of ways, several times in Paris with the Ensemble Intercontemporain, but also in Switzerland, Germany and Spain in groups with different aesthetics. He is the solo trombonist of the Big Band Jazzin'; he plays with the Manon Mullener 5tet and in the group Scent of Lilac. For the 2023 season, he is also joining the youth orchestra of the National Jazz Orchestra (France). In addition to his classical background, he is developing his language as an improviser and composer. His contemporary music practice continuously leads him to explore extended techniques and use them in a personal and colourful musical context. He is the leader of the groups SLIDE COLLECTIVE and Mundus Trio.

Project

Victor Decamp is currently working on ambitious projects, including the Mundus Trio album (an organ trio with trombone and electronics), the show Désastronautes (in collaboration with Thierry Raboud, Thierry Romanens and the Ensemble Slide Collective) and the composition of a repertoire for the Composer Jazz Orchestra.
To successfully carry out these projects, he would like to work with Nils Wogram. Nils, who is known for his compositions, exceptional playing and expertise in band leading, will use his experience to increase the visibility and reach of Victor's projects.
The coaching is divided into several phases:
Targeted coaching sessions: support with the release of the Mundus Trios album and tour (booking, communication, financing) and with finalising the Désastronautes show.
Creative residency: working with Nils at the La Becque artist residency on composition, arrangements and idea generation for projects, particularly the Composer Jazz Orchestra.
Preparation of releases and performances: artistic feedback and organisation during the ensemble's residencies.
This collaboration will enable Victor to strengthen his network, structure his projects and anchor his music in an innovative and committed approach.
