Coaching offer: Diversity and inclusion / portrayal of marginalised people in film
Films and series not only describe realities, they also produce them. I see films and series as media that shape our self-images, the idea of who we can be and the society we want to live in. For me, the focus is on the perspectives of those who are negatively affected by discrimination and marginalised perspectives that should be told. Instead of reproducing and further expanding discrimination, I want to try out approaches in storytelling and production that are critical of discrimination. For me, content and production methods always go hand in hand, so that the focus is also on making work safer for everyone.
I advise editors, production companies, authors and film teams from an anti-racist and queerfeminist perspective on a discrimination-critical approach to the development, casting and production of films and series.  In doing so, I draw on collective knowledge and a long academic tradition of racism, feminism and queer theory.

Philippe Woodtli

Philippe Woodtli is a producer, screenwriter and director as well as a partner at Fidelio Films International and owner of WOOP Prod. AG. He has extensive expertise in the use of AI technologies in film production. By using various AI tools in the development of screenplays and post-production, he provides innovative impulses and optimises creative and technical processes.
In the short film ‘The Ugly Chickens’, based on a story by George R. R. Martin, AI was successfully used to save the post-production and avoid costly reshoots. Other projects include the upcoming short film ‘Vagabond’, which Philippe is writing, directing and producing. His multi-award-winning documentary ‘Sound of Silence’, which he wrote, directed and produced, demonstrates his versatility and visionary approach to modern filmmaking.

Coaching offer: ‘AI in film production’

Philippe Woodtli offers a comprehensive approach that ranges from brainstorming and the development of detailed storyboards to the integration of AI in post-production. His experience includes involvement in the AI development of a series for SRF and the successful use of AI in the post-production of a limited series for George R.R. Martin. He was able to show how modern technologies not only enrich creative processes, but also optimise production costs, for example by avoiding costly reshoots.

Coaching offer:

Interview practices x Dealing with biographical material - questions about the ethical handling of personal stories

Personal stories and ‘real’ people in films stand for authenticity. Documentary or (auto)biographical projects thrive on the fact that true experiences are revealed and told in a different context.
What dependencies and ethical obligations arise from this kind of artistic collaboration with people in front of the camera? And how do you practise respectful and fair treatment of the shared stories as well as the eyewitnesses, victims and perhaps even actors who re-enact the stories?

Our programme is aimed at documentary filmmakers. We offer mentoring based on our m2act-funded project ‘Biography & Stage’, which is based on interviews with artists, participants and experts who deal artistically with biographical stories. Together, we review the mentee's project using a working method in which we divide the film into five phases: from the idea to the project structure and discussions with the participants (preliminary talks and shooting) to the transformation into the finished film and its release - including reflection on the ‘after’. We share experiences, scrutinise procedures and encourage ethical behaviour. It is possible that we will work with role plays and example situations - all with the aim of asking ethical questions at every stage and ideally recording these in an agreement together with the participants. In this way, we create a good working atmosphere and develop a concise, reflective project.
