Kelva Systems: the heating revolution

Heat is essential – but fossil fuels are not. However, industrial heat is still predominantly generated from fossil fuels and accounts for a significant proportion of CO₂ emissions. The problem is that renewable energy sources such as solar and wind do not consistently supply energy exactly when it is needed. Industrial manufacturing requires a reliable supply of heat for its processes. The question, then, is how renewable energy can be stored as heat at industrial scale and made available to manufacturers whenever they need it.

Thermal energy storage systems for climate-friendly production

Kelva Systems has the answer: the start-up’s technology converts renewable energy into heat and stores it like a battery, so it can be utilised at any time Fossil-fuelled industrial boilers can therefore be progressively replaced by thermal storage systems, cutting emissions in the process.
With backing from Migros Pioneer Fund, Kelva Systems is further developing the technology with pilot customers and preparing for market launch.

Heat storage as the key to the energy transition

Kelva Systems aims to decarbonise the industrial heat supply. Its solution stores renewable energy as heat, replacing fossil fuels while easing pressure on the electricity grid and improving grid stability. For Switzerland, that means lower CO₂ emissions and more efficient use of renewable energy – in short, an energy system fit for the future.
