Digital inclusion: Strengthening participation. Promoting equal opportunities.

Digital inclusion is about giving everyone access to digital services and ensuring they have the knowledge needed to use these services. This requires, for example, flexible and low-threshold offers, barrier-free applications and practical support in acquiring digital skills.

With the call for proposals ‘Digital inclusion’, Migros Culture Percentage supports projects that promote equal opportunities in the digital sphere. Funding is available for projects which develop services or approaches for the digital inclusion of people affected by poverty and those at risk of poverty. This target group can actively help shape the project through a participatory process.

Requirements

In particular, projects with the following objectives and content are supported:

Improve access to digital services and structures

  • Create low-threshold and flexible offers
  • Develop outreach or mobile services

Simplify the use of digital services and structures

  • Provide peer-to-peer support services
  • Promote independent use of digital applications, media and services
  • Create trust and security in the digital space

You can find all information on the funded topics and criteria in the information sheet. Please read this carefully before submitting a project outline.

The projects must involve adults affected by poverty or at risk of poverty in a participation process.

You can find all information on the funded topics and criteria in the information sheet funding criteria. Please read this carefully before submitting a project outline.

Deadlines and decisions

Projects are selected in three stages:

1. Project outline (until 18 August 2026)

  • In the project outline, you roughly describe the aim, approach, participation of the target group, impact and budget of your idea. You don’t have to finalise all the details yet.
  • By mid-September 2026, a Migros Culture Percentage jury will review all project outlines and decide who may submit a full application.

2. Application (until 11 November 2026)

  • The selected projects have until 11 November 2026 to submit a detailed application with a binding description of their project.
  • These organisations can take part in a voluntary workshop on the topic of ‘Participation processes with people affected by poverty’ in September 2026.

3. Funding decision (by the beginning of December 2026)

An expert jury will make the funding decision by the beginning of December 2026.

Funding type

The funding package includes financial contributions of up to CHF 50,000 and an accompanying programme comprising advice and an exchange of experiences during the implementation period from 2027 to 2028.

FAQ – Questions and answers

Digital participation means that all people have equal access to and can use digital technologies, media and services, regardless of their circumstances, age or any limitations.

The call for proposals aims to break down digital barriers and create new access to digital spaces.

The projects will run in 2027 and 2028, and Migros Culture Percentage will support the project teams with financial assistance, professional support and exchange opportunities. Migros Culture Percentage also helps to publicise the ideas and results of the projects.

These are the elements of the accompanying programme:

  • Kick-off meeting on 26 January 2027 for the funded projects (mandatory)
  • Specialist advice on the topics of digital participation, poverty sensitivity and participation (as required)
  • Opportunity to participate in the support programmes ‘Coaching for Social Initiatives’ and ‘Project Space’ offered by Migros Culture Percentage (as required)
  • Participation in an exchange and networking meeting at the end of 2027 (mandatory)
  • Participation in a final event at the end of 2028 (mandatory)

The experiences and results of the funded projects are to be shared with other organisations. In addition, Migros Culture Percentage supports each funding project in disseminating the ideas and findings developed within its own network after the end of the project. Funding ends with this dissemination phase.
