About the call for proposals

Migros Culture Percentage’s call for proposals is aimed at non-profit organisations seeking to develop a digital participation project in collaboration with adults who are affected by or at risk of poverty. This is because these people are at a particularly high risk of being excluded from digitalisation.

The projects must actively involve adults affected by poverty or at risk of poverty as part of a participatory process.

The funding runs for two years and amounts to up to CHF 50,000.

Digital participation means that all people have equal access to and can use digital technologies, media and services, regardless of their circumstances, age or any limitations.

The call for proposals aims to break down digital barriers and create new access to digital spaces.

In particular, projects with the following objectives and content are supported:

Improve access to digital services and structures

  • Create low-threshold and flexible offers
  • Develop outreach or mobile services

Simplify the use of digital services and structures

  • Provide peer-to-peer support services
  • Promote independent use of digital applications, media and services
  • Create trust and security in the digital space

You can find all information on the funded topics and criteria in the information sheet funding criteria. Please read this carefully before submitting a project outline.

The projects must involve adults affected by poverty or at risk of poverty in a participation process. Helpful documents for the development of your project ideas:

Projects are selected in three stages:

1. Project outline (until 18 August 2026)

  • In the project outline, you roughly describe the aim, approach, participation of the target group, impact and budget of your idea. You don’t have to finalise all the details yet.
  • By mid-September 2026, a Migros Culture Percentage jury will review all project outlines and decide who may submit a full application.

2. Application (until 11 November 2026)

  • The selected projects have until 11 November 2026 to submit a detailed application with a binding description of their project.
  • These organisations can take part in a voluntary workshop on the topic of ‘Participation processes with people affected by poverty’ in September 2026.

3. Funding decision (by the beginning of December 2026)

An expert jury will make the funding decision by the beginning of December 2026.

The projects will run in 2027 and 2028, and Migros Culture Percentage will support the project teams with financial assistance, professional support and exchange opportunities. Migros Culture Percentage also helps to publicise the ideas and results of the projects.

These are the elements of the accompanying programme:

  • Kick-off meeting on 26 January 2027 for the funded projects (mandatory)
  • Specialist advice on the topics of digital participation, poverty sensitivity and participation (as required)
  • Opportunity to participate in the support programmes ‘Coaching for Social Initiatives’ and ‘Project Space’ offered by Migros Culture Percentage (as required)
  • Participation in an exchange and networking meeting at the end of 2027 (mandatory)
  • Participation in a final event at the end of 2028 (mandatory)

The experiences and results of the funded projects are to be shared with other organisations. In addition, Migros Culture Percentage supports each funding project in disseminating the ideas and findings developed within its own network after the end of the project. Funding ends with this dissemination phase.

Background to the call for proposals

Migros Culture Percentage is committed to cohesion in Switzerland and supports people and organisations working to achieve equal opportunities and an inclusive society.

The rapid advance of digitalisation brings many opportunities for society, but not everyone benefits equally. Over 30% of the Swiss population lack basic digital skills (see Mobiliar DigitalBarometer 2024). People who are affected by poverty or at risk of poverty have a higher risk of falling behind in the digital sphere.

Since 2025, Migros Culture Percentage has focused on the topic of ‘Poverty and Digital Participation’. In 2025, it ran a call for project proposals called ‘Get connected!’. The associated funding round supported local projects which help people at risk of poverty to develop digital skills and participate in everyday digital life.

The current call for proposals, ‘Digital inclusion, takes the topic a step further. It focuses on developing new ideas and services (or improving existing approaches) while working directly with those affected.
