In 2027, La Chaux-de-Fonds becomes Switzerland’s first Capital of Culture – with the Migros Culture Percentage as a national partner. Inspired by the European Capitals of Culture model, «Capitale Culturelle Suisse» is a major cultural and societal initiative that will take place every three years in a Swiss city. Its aim is to promote Switzerland’s cultural diversity, strengthen dialogue between linguistic regions, and actively engage the public. The Migros Culture Percentage contributes creative impulses and highlights from its own programmes to La Chaux-de-Fonds.
Migros Culture Percentage: Partner of lcdf27
The Migros Culture Percentage is a national partner of the lcdf27 project, Switzerland’s first Capital of Culture. As part of the «Capitale Culturelle Suisse» initiative, the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds will be at the centre of a national cultural project in 2027. The goal is to promote the country’s cultural diversity, actively engage the population, and strengthen social cohesion.
Creative contributions and cultural highlights
The Migros Culture Percentage provides not only financial support but also cultural and social contributions to the lcdf27 programme. In collaboration with the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, m4music, and other Migros Culture Percentage programmes, a wide range of artistic formats and collaborations will emerge throughout the year. At the same time, the Neuchâtel-Fribourg cooperative is actively engaging the local community and employees through regional activities.
Together with the Migros Culture Percentage, lcdf27 creates space for social dialogue and participation – shaping Switzerland’s cultural landscape in a lasting way.
lcdf27 organisation
The lcdf27 project organisation is responsible for designing and coordinating the programme and managing collaboration with partners. It ensures the successful implementation of lcdf27’s vision: cultural diversity, social dialogue, and active participation.

National Association Capital of Culture Switzerland (KHS/CCS)
The Capital of Culture Switzerland Association is the driving force behind the «Capitale Culturelle Suisse» initiative, which makes La Chaux-de-Fonds Switzerland’s first Capital of Culture in 2027. Inspired by the European Capitals of Culture model, it has been working since 2013 to establish this format in Switzerland. Its aim is to designate a Swiss city as Capital of Culture every three years, showcase cultural diversity, strengthen national connections, and open up new opportunities for cultural practitioners. The host city for the second edition in 2030 will be decided as early as June 2026.
