Laurel Bloom is the solo project of Basel-based musician Lucas Zibulski (*1999). He plays drums, piano, and sings. In addition to his involvement in other bands such as Malummí and Weird Fishes, he started this project to give more space and attention to his own ideas. The result is an EP titled Painting The Sunlight In My Room, released in January 2025. It consists of delicate songs that are sparsely arranged yet capable of deeply touching the listener. Shortly after the release of his EP, he won the M4music Demotape Clinic in the Pop category with his song Deniable. Together with Sara El Hachimi and Konstantin Aebli—friends with whom he has maintained a long musical collaboration—the songs find their vibrant live form through interwoven textures, immersive soundscapes, and a tender groove. He is currently working on new songs and aims to deepen his live experience with this project.

Projekt

For my project Laurel Bloom, I want to focus intensively on composing and arranging my songs while exploring new approaches in this process. Additionally, I aim to expand my knowledge in recording and mixing to professionally develop my demos. I also want to reflect on and refine the implementation of my music in a live context. In collaboration with Ralph Heidel, I want to explore how my various roles – singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, bandleader, and sidemusician – can be sustainably reconciled and organized. I will benefit from the versatility of his musical skills and experiences. In addition to online coaching, I will visit Ralph at his studio in Berlin. This will give me insights into a music scene that has inspired me for a long time and allow me to expand my artistic network.
