Martina Berther, born in 1984, grew up in Chur and now lives in Zurich. She is one of the most versatile electric bass players and composers on the Swiss music scene. Her sound spectrum ranges from pop to experimental music. She tours internationally with her solo project, the duo Ester Poly, and with the singer Sophie Hunger. The musician from Graubünden is interdisciplinary and writes music for films, works as a multi-instrumentalist and session musician and can be heard on around 24 released recordings to date. In 2020, she won the Swiss Music Prize. In 2018 she received the Werkjahr of the City of Zurich. In 2012, she completed a master's degree in music education and performance jazz at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU).

Sandra Keller (guitar, vocals), Simona Bischof (bass) and Gianna Brühwiler (guitar, vocals) met in 2013 while studying art education. Founded in April 2019, their first EP Baby Paradise left the band cave in Zurich Oerlikon in September of the same year. The three musicians played concerts in various cities in Switzerland shortly after forming. In autumn 2020, Alanah Rüttimann (drums) joins the group and follows in the digital footsteps of the laptop beats with live drums. In spring 2021, the band wins the "Demo Rock" and "Demo of the Year" awards with In Fiction at the Demotapeclinic. Shortly afterwards, they are signed to Irascible Records and release the EPs Softness, Pt. 1 & 2 in early 2022. The band is booked for shows all over Switzerland this summer, including at the Musikfestwochen Winterthur, the Openair St. Gallen, the PALP Festival and the Festival de la Cité in Lausanne. In September, they will be travelling to Vienna for the Waves Festival, the first time they will be playing beyond the country's borders. Batbait's debut album Dirty Clothes will be released in September 2022.
Project
It is important to us that we work with a coach who understands our sound, but with whom we also feel comfortable on a personal level. With Martina Berther, we have chosen an artist who has a lot of experience both in songwriting and at concerts.
With the support of Martina Berther, we want to hone our sound on the one hand and our live performances on the other. External perception helps us to reflect on and improve our stage presence, the dynamics of our setlist and other aspects of our performance.
With the help of stage rehearsals, we improve and define our sound worlds and learn to better identify what we need from the sound technology on stage.
We also want to explore other ways of songwriting and are planning an artists residency so that we can spend several days exploring them.
