ReVerde: Biodiversity that pays off

The loss of biodiversity threatens ecosystems and soil quality – the foundations of our existence. Many farms would like to protect biodiversity, but they often lack time, knowledge and support to put their ambitions into practice. Ecological subsidies exist, but the requirements are complex, the planning is time-consuming and the operational benefits are difficult to assess.

Making biodiversity areas manageable and cost-effective

This is where ReVerde comes in. Supported by Migros Pioneer Fund, the association aims to help farms overcome administrative hurdles and, above all, to demonstrate the business benefits of biodiversity measures. It supports businesses from the initial consultation and an environmental and economic cost-benefit analysis through to the planning, financing and implementation of measures. The goal: establishing biodiversity areas that are financially viable for farms. During a one-year pilot, the viability of the scheme will be assessed before the groundwork is laid for potential expansion.

A win for nature, agriculture and society

ReVerde eases the burden on farmers; its goal is sustainable agriculture that is ecologically beneficial and financially viable. Not only do environmental measures create new wildlife habitats, they also provide income opportunities for farms. Swiss society benefits twofold: more stable ecosystems and greater supply security.
