How I can support
Above all, I can talk about my experiences of what it is like to live with my disability in society, in the professional world, as a cultural worker, as a person. But I can also help and accompany groups or perform in a play. If you are interested in disability, let me know. Maybe something will come of it. Please be patient with me; I am slow, can hardly write, can’t read quickly and can’t do maths at all.
What drives me
My visible disability is stigmatising. I was often forced into structures created specifically for people like me. Going to nursery or school like the other children in the neighbourhood wasn’t believed to be right for me. I had to fight for lunch, an apprenticeship, my own flat, everyday help and a regular job. I want people like me to be part of the world. I want to be visible and help others to lead a life outside the structures for the disabled. Art is a good way to do this.
