Volunteer tandems at Madame Frigo
Madame Frigo pairs new volunteers with experienced mentors. Their practical advice is priceless when it comes to running the fridges.
Madame Frigo is setting up public fridges across Switzerland where leftover food that can be shared rather than thrown away. Over 700 volunteers look after the venues – they carry out checks, clean and organise things on site. To help new volunteers connect more effectively with experienced volunteers, Madame Frigo is introducing ‘tandems’: experienced volunteers support new teams in their region and share practical tips. In addition, there are annual ‘Frigo Tours’, during which the teams receive support and feedback along with optional further training. This means that the volunteers feel well supported right from the start and remain motivated.
